This was an enjoyable evening with an appreciative audience. The choir sang a number of items including John Rutter’s For the Beauty of the Earth and a Gospel Medley in which the audience joined in, which were interspersed with solos from Dan, Betsey, Doris, Joan and James as well as some magical moments from Dan.
One of our favourite events. Unfortunately Dan had a long standing commitment this year but we were lucky enough to have Leek U3A Singing for Pleasure’s musical director Allison Fisher conducting us. We sang a programme of 9 varied items including You Raise Me Up, Mary Mack and Bele Mama. Fortunately the weather was kind to us.

VICTORIA HALL, HANLEY
Staffordshire Performing Arts Concert.
There were various groups of schoolchildren playing instrumental numbers and the choir sang the John Rutter song again together with a number of other items.
The second time we have had a Come and Sing and again it resulted in some new members which was pleasing. Dan led an informal and enjoyable afternoon singing and soon had everyone singing in parts.

Our second year at this event which we all enjoy and find moving. We performed 4 items on our own then sang the Military Wives’ song Wherever You Are with Trentham Brass Band and led the community singing Songs that Won the War. Our conductor for the evening was Joan Lister who led us very well.
We were invited to sing by the school. Unfortunately Dan was ill and our programme had to be truncated but we did sing one of our favourite Christmas pieces, Snow Song. We were ably led again by Joan.
